Hi! I don't speak Turkmen but I can help with templates, categories and images. --Katxis100 (talk) 13:03, 20 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I have been using Wikipedia for a month so, I am kinda amateur. It would be great if you gonna help me. I created several pages last 3 days but I do not know them how to redirct other languages. For instance, if somebody search for "Google" in wikipedia, he usually finds English article, on the left side of article, there are other language options, I would like to direct my articles to "türkmençe"(turkmen) language. Would you please dirct my pages ("Google", "WhatsApp", "Line", "Samsung", "Windows 10", "Wladimir Putin"(Putin), "Rejep Taýýyp Ärdogan"(Erdogan), UEFA Çempiÿonlar Ligasy(Uefa Champions League" "Apple" "Sting" all of them in turkmen) to türkmençe options? Thank you Katxis100! Kindly, KeremJan --KeremJan (talk) 14:05, 20 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

As you are editing the Turkmen Wikiepdia, you cannot add the interwikis (links to other Wikipedias) to the Turkmen Wikipedia on as you are already on it. I have added interwikis to other Wikipedias. --Katxis100 (talk) 14:18, 20 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've seen that there are a lot of articles about history, however, the articles are not well organised. Besides, I've seen there is a lack of templates and, even though categories are fine, I think that they could be better organised. Please, find below a list of ideas I have in order to improve this Wikipedia:

  • There should be an article entitled "Wikipedia:List of articles all languages should have" that gathers together all the articles that are essential.
  • I will try to create templates to get articles more organised.
  • As this is a Wikipedia in Turkmen, there should be articles related to Turmens history and culture. There are long articles about Greece and Rome but the article about the country is not very complete.
  • What does it mean "MEÝILNAMA" and "Mowzuk", "EDEBIÝATLAR"
  • Could you translate the following phrases into Turkmen, please?
    • Geography of Turkmenistan
    • Economy of Turkmenistan
    • Politics of Turkmenistan
    • Demography of Turkmenistan
    • Culture of Turkmenistan
    • List of articles every Wikipedia should have
  • What do Yüzölçümü, Territoriýasy and Meýdany mean?

Thanks for your help. --Katxis (talk) 16:05, 20 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

I guess lots of users are ameteur like me. There are lots of Turkmenistan history and culture articles on Russian wikipedia, Russian is the de facto language in my country. Therefore lots of people prefer to write and read in russian. And wikipedia is not so popular among turkmens(I guess). In turkmen wikipedia there are lots of history articles but as you said above they are unorganized and incomplete.

"Wikipedia:List of articles all languages should have" is wikipedia project I guess, but I do not want to be part of this project due to my shedule restrictions. I can only be part of text writings otherwise it is very exhausting.

  • "MEÝILNAMA" means "proposal", "Mowzuk" means "article", "EDEBIÝATLAR" means "Literatures"
  • "Geography of Turkmenistan" in turkmen "Türkmenistanyñ geografiÿasy"
  • "Economy of Turkmenistan" in turkmen "Türkmenistanyñ ekonomiÿasy"
  • "Politics of Turkmenistan" in turkmen "Türkmenistanyñ syÿasaty"
  • " Demography of Turkmenistan" in turkmen "Türkmenistanyñ demografiÿasy"
  • "Culture of Turkmenistan" in turkmen "Türkmenistanyñ medeniÿeti"

You try to make templates, maybe users will write about it. Right now I am in abroad therefore I cannot write accurete informations about above topics. By the way are you one of Wikipedia administrators or just volunteer? why are you tring to help turkmen wikipedi? thank you!--KeremJan (talk) 16:50, 20 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

I like to help in Wikipedias of languages with few speakers. I believe that, in that way, those languages get the change to have more presence on the Internet. As you said, many Turkmen prefer to read in Russian so the only way to attract people is to have very accurate and complete articles. By organising the Wikipedia, we will know what we have and what we don't, in order to create a list of articles that are needed (that's the reason for the page "Wikipedia:List of articles all languages should have"). However, if you do not want to take part on it, I suggest creating a list of articles that are related to Turkmenistan and Turkmen, so in that way we can improve the information about the country. --Katxis (talk) 16:56, 20 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help! I always admire people like you! I'll do my best! Please, ask anything about turkmenistan(except politics) without hesitation, I will try to help.--KeremJan (talk) 17:01, 20 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

While the ancient history of Turkmenistan is largely shrouded in mystery, its past since the arrival of Indo-European Iranian tribes around 2000 BC is often the starting point of the area's discernible history. --Katxis (talk) 13:51, 21 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • In "english" they called it "Muhammet" for me and for muslims(and turkmens) it is kinda insulting and disrespecting him(alas, nobody cares about us nowadays:)), so "Muhammet pygamber" is the right one for turkmens.

Hi, I've made a list of things to be done on this Wikipedia. I would like you to tell me your opinion on it:

  • Add more information on the article about Turkmenistan. Expand it so it covers all topics: history, geography, culture, demographics, etc.
  • Each one of those topics will have its own article as well (History of Turkmenistan, Geography of Turkmenistan, Culture of Turkmenistan, etc.).
  • Categorise, wikify and organise all the long articles, because in the way they are now it is difficult to read them.
  • Add more templates so navigation through it will be easier.
  • Create small articles related to general culture.
  • Add any piece of information that can be important for the Turmen people e.g. hospitals in Ashgabat and put the address, telephone number, etc.

What do you think?

PS: I connected to FB and my internet disconnected, that's why it took me too long to write back. Sorry about that. --Katxis (talk) 15:40, 21 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

Take a look at Muhammet pygamber. I´ve added a template to Romen Gari. Please check if it is correct. --Katxis (talk) 15:55, 21 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi, you are doing very good and you wrote very good plan for making improvement on this wikipedia. If you could do all you listed above to this wikipedia, it would be great. categorization and organization is very poor in this wikipedia.Rather than writing new information, experienced users should focus on organize and categorise already written articles.I guess lots of users are amateur like me and they do not want to spend much time on wikipedia, this is maybe because they do not know how to create fully functional article. But if we create templates and categories articles, it will be more practical and convenient for amateur users, they will come and fill the blanks only. One other point, Wikipedia's popularity among turkmen is also problem, for instance I have never seen wikipedia writers among my peers, this is maybe internet speed is very low in Turkmenistan, therefore, they do not spend much time on any internet website(not only wikipedia), even if we create templates and categories it may take years to fill them(I am very pessimistic about that) I hope i will be wrong. But we should do whatever we can.I wish I could help more but as I said before I am not in Turkmenistan right now(limited access to information).
  • Romen Gari's template is very good(few translation needed buy they are not big deal) and Muhammet pygamber template is also good("Şablon" word is unnecessary) but it needs to be extend and I am planning to extend it more in the future.
  • Thank you, you are doing great!Keep going! I'll try to do my best for your requests!--KeremJan (talk) 22:11, 21 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • History: I have created a template for the history of Turkmenistan that groups all the eras. I have assigned one article to one era (check if it is correct, please). There are more articles related to each era, for instance "Türkmenistanyň taryhynyň Oguz han eýýamyna degişli çeşmeleri" (source of Oguz han era's in Turkmenistan history) so these articles will be group in the same category which means that there will be five categories (one per era) and all five will be under the category of "History of Turkmenistan".
  • Geography: I will make a list of the main geographical features of the country (e.g. Akjagaýa Depression as the lowest point and Aýrybaba as the highest point).
  • I think that, to start with, we can concentrate ourselves in these two topics (history and geography) and then move to others.

Don't worry, you don't need to apologise as you were not bothering at all. There are a lot of things I don't know about Türkmenistan, one of them was that one. I forgot to tell you, that one thing I like about Turkmenistan culture is Mähri Pirgulyýewa's music. Even though I don't understand anything, I like the rhythm. One of my favourites is Türkmenistanym.

As you can see, I have created a template for Ashgabat. In that way, all the articles related to it are more organised.

Could you please translate the following phrases, please?

  • Palaces
  • Hotels
  • Monuments and memorials
  • Mosques
  • Museums and theatres
  • Retail and business
  • Landmarks
  • Education
  • Sport
  • Transport

  • Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex (People's memory) is a memorial complex to the honor of those killed in battle Geok Tepe, World War II, and the commemoration of the victims of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake. It is located in the southwestern part of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
  • Monument to the Turkmenistan Constitution (Turkmen: Türkmenistanyň Konstitusiýa binasy) is a monument located in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Its height of 185 meters makes it the second-tallest building in Turkmenistan. The monument is decorated with marble. Built to honor the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of Turkmenistan, it was constructed between 2008 and 2011 on the Archabil avenue, by the Turkish construction company Polimeks. Inside the complex is a museum, a conference room, a library, a gift shop and a cafeteria.

I would like to ask you about Türkmen ortography as well because in your translation you wrote Türkmenistanyñ geografiÿasy. However, I've seen written using letters ň and ý (Türkmenistanyň geografiýasy) . Are both versions equally right? I think that letter ň is pronounced ng, is that correct?

Thanks for your help. --Katxis (talk) 22:55, 27 awgust 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

  • About ortography,I recently realised ortography is problem when you click on categories, both ý and ÿ are true, but only ñis true(in school books they use ÿ but in media and official papers I guess they use ý). So we should use ý and ñ, please make it correct if I use other than these letters.

Thank you very much for the translation of both songs! I do speak French but I am not from France. I am thinking about publishing articles about Turkmen songs. What do you think about it?

For me is weird to see "ñ" being used as it is a letter used in Spanish alphabet and a few languages realted to it.

Could you please translate these articles?

Hi,

  • Publishing about songs is very good idea, I am sure there are many sources for you which are already published, because Europeans started to explore Turkmenistan history and culture in 19-th century.Just remind you, do not use any turkish sources beacuse they have very nationalistic approach.Turkmens use "ñ" because we are speaking lispily(like in Arabic),even though we are member of Turkic speakers family, nobody in Turkic countries understand us beacuse of our lisp pronunciation.About my language grammatic structure is similar to turkic speakers, most of verbs are Turkic words+most of adjectives and adverbs are Persian and Arabian words+most of nouns are Russian words. So it is a kinda mixture of 4 languages.
  • I wish I could learn French only for François Hardy songs:)
  • "Rukhiyet Palace (Turkmen: Ruhyýet köşgi) is a palace in the capital city of Asgabat in Turkmenistan. The palace holds official state events, forums, meetings, inaugurations. Hi! Now that we have a least a stub about each important monument in Ashgabat, we can do different things:

  • Complete the existing articles about Ashgabat.
  • Improving the article about Turkmenistan.
  • Complete articles about Turkmen cities (adding a template and more information).
  • Starting to add articles about Turkic countries and culture (the rest of Central Asia plus Turkey and Azerbaijan and those living in Russia).

I will ask you to translate information about these four things so that we can create a lot of information about that in Turkmen (so this Wikipedia will be specialised on that rather than having a lot of small articles about general stuff). --Katxis (talk) 08:43, 4 sentýabr 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, sorry for late reply(I had trip). We can continue with first three of them.About the last one, there is no consensus about Turkic countries' history and culture, you can find articles but all of them are lack of objectivity. So, I am ready. You can send me translations! Thanx!--KeremJan (talk) 10:53, 6 sentýabr 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ok, let's start with the capital.

  • Names: Ashgabat is called Aşgabat in Turkmen, Ашхабад (Ashkhabad) in Russian, and Ešq-ābād (عشق‌آباد) in Persian. Before 1991, the city was usually spelled Ashkabad in English, a transliteration of the Russian form, which was itself from the original Persian form. It has also been variously spelled Ashkhabat and Ashgabad. From 1919 until 1927 the city was renamed Poltoratsk after a local revolutionary. The name in Persian means "city of love" or "city of devotion". Some Turkmen scholars insist that the name goes back to the Parthian era, 3rd century BC, deriving from the name of the founder of the Parthian Empire, Arsaces I of Parthia, modified by Turkish pronunciation to Ashk-Abad (the city of Ashk/Arsaces)

I asked you about the Turkic countries because my idea is to transform Turkmen Wikipedia in one of the best among the Turkic ones (i.e. the most complete one).

  • I would like to ask you about Ashgabat's new airport's. I was thinking to add an article about it with basic information such as the CEO, the address and a telephone. Same think with hospitals so that people can consult this information on Wikipedia, thus becoming a useful tool.

Thanks for your help. --Katxis (talk) 12:03, 6 sentýabr 2015 (UTC)Reply
